Greek version 

The purpose of this blog is to concentrate material for local and rare dialects and languages related to Greek or spoken within the Greek region. These include, but are not limited to, the main dialects used in Greece besides standard Greek (i.e. Cretan, Pontian, and Cypriot), the use of which becomes less and less frequent, as well as moribund and near-extinct hellenic tongues -namely Cappadocian Greek, Griko, Yevanic judeo-Greek, and the Tsakonian language*. They also include  several non-hellenic dialects spoken in Greece, (i.e. Arvanitika, Vlach, etc), for which there will also be an attempt to concentrate material

Though one will find material for the aforementioned tongues, there is no guarantee that the websites it is found on will always be online and available. Besides, when it comes to the majority of those dialects, there are no websites concentrating much of the existing material, most of which requires extensive research to be found.

The aim of this blog is to concentrate this material and have it hosted on blogger as long as the internet exists, while making it easier to find it for research and educational purposes.

It is assumed that the ones interested in regional dialects of Greece are already familiar with standard Greek. Most of the forthcoming articles, including translations from dialectal texts, will be in Greek, yet since there may be non-Greek researchers seeking information for the dialects (e.g. for a project), and since some dialects spoken in Greece are of interest for speakers of other tongues (e.g. Vlach), a part of them will be in English.

The owner of this blog is neither a linguist, nor a speaker of the dialects. What led to the creation of it was merely a colossal interest in them. The owner also happens to be... a little busy, which means that there is a need for authors.
